Exodus 25-27

At first, the instructions for the tabernacle seem overly complicated; but God seems to have all this planned out. Which He did, knowing ahead of time when and where He would speak to Moses. God is very precise and exact with His directions and measurements. God orders Moses to do his building exactly what is shown him three times: 25:9, 40; and 27:8.

Only God himself deserves such a fine resting place. He could have built it for himself in an instant; yet He chose to have it built by human hands, because He wanted to dwell with the Israelites. He could have said, "now I have brought you out of Egypt, you're on your own." Jesus could have said to His disicples and us, "I died on the cross to forgive your sins. Do you want to go heaven? Cool, I'll see you when you get there." But that's not how it works. God had His tabernacle designed here on earth by human hands because He wanted to dwell amoung the Israelites and live among them. And when Jesus died on the cross, God chose a place to dwell even closer to us: our hearts.
