Daily reading: Deut 1-2
Actually read: Deut 1-6, prov 13
Moses is a very interesting character. The Bible says that he was the most humble man on earth, yet he steals someone else's credit and gives way his blame. He blames the people for his forbiddance to enter the promised land, and he takes credit for God's command. He also takes credit for his father in law, Jethro, who proposed to Moses that he split the load. He uses the phrase 'because of you' three times. Yet he's encouraging and he does impart wisdom on the people.
Prov 13:
Solomon is writing about wisdom, and the deeds done by those who are wise v. those done by fools. Am I a fool? Do I listen to instruction, or would I rather give it? Do I hate what is false, or am I tolerant? Friendship with the world is hatred toward God, fresh and bitter water, Deut. 6:5, yeast in the dough, salt and light. Salt makes things taste good, and it brings a nutrient our body needs. Pepper, on the other hand, is not necessary. Salt and light. Pepper and darkness.
Pepper and darkness, salt and light.
Separate the gray into black and white.
Split the fellowship into left and right.
There can only be dark and bright.
Darkness and pepper, light and salt.
Worship the Lord and give Him your all.
Look up so as not to fall,
the pain will only be found at the the bottom with a halt.
Pepper and darkness, salt and light.
Will you be dark, or will you be bright?
Choose to be wrong or choose to be right,
and fulfill God's desire for us to be salt and light.
